Who are the ‘Eurovision’ 2024 finalists?

As is customary for Eurovision, the “Big 5” countries—France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK—automatically qualify for the Grand Finals. As the winning country of 2023’s contest, Sweden also qualifies for the Grand Finals. The remaining countries compete in one of two semi-finals, where the top 10 for each semi-final will qualify for the finals.

If you watched Eurovision 2023, you’d remember the incredible performance of the Swedish singer Loreen. She won the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest with their song “Tattoo.” 

How does voting work in ‘Eurovision’?

Eurovision voting is split between judges from each country and a televote. First, each country’s jury awards 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point to their favorite songs. Afterward, the televote is read out, where the combined public vote totals (via phone or SMS) are read out in ascending order.

If you’re watching Eurovision from a non-participating country,  you can vote by using the official Eurovision App or by visiting www.esc.vote.

Viewers can vote up to 20 times for their favorite songs, except the one from their own country. The country with the most points from both judges and the public wins the competition and will host Eurovision the next year!
